Silver pendant enclosing an authentic Roman coin. The sterling silver frame (marked 925) is custom-made to the coin and if desired can be removed without damaging the coin.

Obverse: Laureate head right, slight drapery on shoulder.

Severus Alexander, Roman Emperor from 222-235 AD and last of the Severan Dynasty. The Historia Augusta claims that Alexander prayed every morning and was extremely tolerant of Jews and Christians alike. During his reign Rome was military confronted with the rising Sassanid Empire and the German tribes. He was assassinated while campaigning during the Germanic wars in 235 AD. After his death the chaotic period, known as 'Crisis of the Third Century' brought the Roman Empire to the brink of collapse.

Spes was the Roman goddess of hope.
