In 1818, due to a lack of Dutch silver coins, the Dutch authorities on Curaçao authorized the re-denomination of 8 Reales (Pillar Dollar) into 3 Reales (18 stuivers) by cutting them in five segments.
In 1838 the Dutch administration ordered the re-denomination of 1 Guilders into 0,25 cents by cutting them in 4 segments.
