Period: 10th - 11th century
Openwork staff or sceptre terminal with circular hollow body, rectangular in cross-section. One side decorated with beast to the right, looking backward. The other sides show scrolls of foliage. Rectangular socket with openings on all four sides.

Previously, these artefacts were thought to be sword pommels. Currently they are considered to be lower terminals from medieval ecclesiastical staffs or sceptres.
