Period: 1st half 18th century

Fruitwood coin weight box with 17 coin weights made by Abraham Groengraft and 1 unmarked weight. A sliding drawer to the base can hold 18 square weights, some names can be seen in faded ink.
The 17 weights are signed AGG (Abraham Groengraft) and crowned arms of Amsterdam. Each weight corresponds to one of the many types of coins then in circulation such as: 1, 1/2 or double ducat, sovereign, double excellente, gold rider, Portugese cruzado, French crown, English crown, Rose noble,..
The unmarked weight (see last picture) has 6 circular dots and letters EST is a weight for 1/4 Burgundian Daalder.

Abraham Groengraft (geboren 8 maart 1673 in Amsterdam, overleden in 1745) werd op 23 januari 1701 aangesteld tot Generaal-IJkmeester van Holland and West-Friesland.
Abraham woonde in de Kalverstraat in Amsterdam.
