English glass wine bottle (onion bottle or kattekop)

English 'kattekop' wine bottle (dumpy) with exceptional irisation with green and gold tones, intact. Bottleneck with applied string rim and base kickup with large pontil mark.
These bottles were designed to hold wine or brandy; the wide bottom made them more suitable to use aboard ships in rough seas.
