Feudal France, silver denier struck by the bishops of Valence. These coins were among the major circulating coins during the Crusades and are often found in coin hoards from the Crusader possessions in the East.
Obverse: Stylised angel with spread wings, resembling an eagle, all within beaded border.
Legend: VRBS VALENTIAI +.
Reverse: Small cross with annulet in one quadrant, all within beaded border.
