A Partisan (partizan) was a pole weapon that could be as long as eight or nine feet. The metal spearhead was mounted on a wooden shaft and could thus be used as a thrusting weapon. The curved section at the bottom of the spearhead aided in parrying thrusts from swords or other bladed weapons.
