Rummen (Rumigny), in present-day Flemish Brabant is situated north of Sint-Truiden and east of Hasselt.
Around 1361, Arnold of Oreye started a mint in Rummen where mostly imitations were struck in order to finance his struggle for the County of Loon.
Jan II of Wesemael sold part of his property to Charles the Bold, Duke of Burgundy after which Rummen devolved to his sister Johanna van Wesemael (1464-1474). Johanna was the last one to mint coins in Rummen. After her death, Rummen became property of the family de Mérode until 1594.
