Aurelian: Roman Emperor from 270-275 AD. His series of military victories reunited the Roman Empire after the barbarian invasions and internal revolts.
Aurelian put an end to the debasement of coins, caused by the customary practice of stealing silver for the coin production. The senior public financial official Felicissimus incited the mint workers to revolt  (bellum monetariorum). The rebellion spread in the streets, but the revolt was repressed in a bloody battle on the Caelian Hill in Rome.
