Terms of Sale
By placing an order with NumisAntica, you agree to the following Terms of Sale.
---
## 1. Prices and Currency
All prices are stated in euros (EUR).
---
## 2. Description and Authenticity
All items are described to the best of our knowledge and belief at the time of listing, based on research, reference material, comparison with similar objects, and professional opinion.
NumisAntica guarantees that all items offered as ancient are authentic ancient objects, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
Minor variations in interpretation, attribution, dating, or scholarly opinion may occur and do not constitute misrepresentation, provided the essential characteristics of the object are correctly described.
---
## 3. Purchase Price and Taxes
The purchase price payable by the buyer consists of the item price, and where applicable the shipping costs, insurance fees, or any payment fees charged by the payment provider.
All our sales are subject to the EU margin scheme for second-hand goods. VAT is not shown separately on the invoice and cannot be reclaimed by the buyer.
This does not include any import duties, taxes, or charges levied by the buyer’s country of residence. Such duties, taxes, or charges, if applicable, are the sole responsibility of the buyer.
---
## 4. Export and Import Regulations
Some countries restrict or prohibit the import of antiquities or archaeological objects.
The export of archaeological objects from the Netherlands to countries outside the European Union may require an export licence issued by the Dutch Central Licensing Office for Import and Export (CDIU).
At present, NumisAntica ships only to countries within the European Union.
It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to familiarise themselves with any import requirements or licences applicable in their country. NumisAntica accepts no liability for denial of export or import licences or for delays caused by licensing procedures.
---
## 5. Availability of Items
All items are unique and subject to prior sale.
In the event that an item is no longer available, or where multiple buyers place an order for the same item simultaneously, NumisAntica reserves the right to determine which order will be accepted. Any payment received for an unavailable item will be refunded in full without undue delay, subject to Article 5A below.
NumisAntica reserves the right to refuse or cancel any order for reasonable grounds.
Reasonable grounds include, but are not limited to, situations where the buyer has previously returned an item in a damaged or altered condition, has caused loss of collectable value, has abused or has demonstrated an intention to abuse the right of withdrawal, has failed to comply with payment obligations, or has otherwise acted in a manner that makes continuation of the commercial relationship unreasonable.
For the avoidance of doubt, a single lawful return exercised in accordance with consumer law, without damage, alteration, or abuse, shall not in itself constitute reasonable grounds for refusal of future orders.
Any refusal or cancellation of an order under this provision shall not affect the buyer’s statutory rights and shall not be based on discriminatory grounds.
---
## 5A. Premature Payments and Payment Processing Fees
In order to avoid unnecessary transaction costs, buyers are requested not to make payment until NumisAntica has confirmed the availability of the ordered item by email.
If a buyer nevertheless makes a payment before such confirmation, and the order cannot be fulfilled due to unavailability of the item, NumisAntica reserves the right to deduct any non-refundable payment processing fees charged by the payment provider (such as PayPal) from the refunded amount.
This applies only where the buyer has been clearly instructed to await confirmation before making payment and has failed to follow this instruction.
This provision does not affect the buyer’s statutory right of withdrawal once a valid purchase contract has been concluded.
---
## 6. Withdrawal of Items from Sale
NumisAntica reserves the right to withdraw any item from its online catalogue at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to keep the catalogue up to date but cannot guarantee that an item has not already been sold through another sales channel.
---
## 7. Payment
No item will be shipped until full payment has been received.
Unless otherwise agreed, payment by bank transfer or PayPal must be completed within five (5) days of confirmation of item availability by NumisAntica. If payment is not received within this period, NumisAntica reserves the right to cancel the order and relist the item.
Payments made before confirmation of availability are subject to Article 5A (Premature Payments and Payment Processing Fees).
---
## 8. Shipping
Shipping costs are displayed during the checkout process.
If, exceptionally, the actual shipping cost differs materially from the amount shown at checkout, NumisAntica will notify the buyer before dispatch. The buyer may cancel the order without penalty if they do not agree to the revised shipping cost.
Orders are normally shipped using PostNL or a comparable courier service.
NumisAntica is not responsible for delays caused by postal or courier services or by customs authorities. Risk of loss or damage passes to the buyer upon physical delivery of the item to the buyer or a third party designated by the buyer.
---
## 9. Right of Withdrawal and Returns
9.1 Right of Withdrawal
The buyer has the right to withdraw from the purchase within fourteen (14) days from the day on which the buyer or a third party designated by the buyer receives the item, without giving any reason.
9.2 Exercise of the Right of Withdrawal
To exercise the right of withdrawal, the buyer must inform NumisAntica of their decision by a clear statement (e.g. by email).
The buyer must return the item without undue delay and in any event no later than fourteen (14) days after notifying NumisAntica of the withdrawal.
9.3 Refunds
Upon valid withdrawal, NumisAntica will refund the full purchase price, including the standard outbound shipping costs, within fourteen (14) days of receiving the returned item or proof of its return.
The buyer bears the risk for loss, damage, or misdelivery of the item during return shipment until the item has been received and inspected by NumisAntica.
Any refund made prior to physical receipt and inspection of the returned item is conditional and subject to adjustment if the returned package is incomplete, contains the wrong item, or if the item is returned in a damaged or altered condition.
Returns of empty packages, incorrect items, or packages that do not contain the originally delivered item do not constitute a valid return.
The buyer is responsible for the cost of returning the item.
9.4 Condition of Returned Items and Reduction in Value
The buyer is liable for any reduction in value of the item resulting from handling beyond what is necessary to establish the nature, characteristics, and functioning of the item.
Items should be returned in the same condition as received. Any damage, use, removal of labels, holders, seals, or other alterations that affect the condition or collectability of the item may result in a reasonable deduction from the refund amount.
Given the nature of ancient coins and jewellery containing precious metals, even minor changes in condition may materially affect collectable value and may therefore result in a reduction in the refund amount.
9.5 Hygiene Policy – Earrings
For hygiene reasons, all earrings are considered hygiene-sensitive products.
If earrings are returned under the right of withdrawal, a fixed hygiene handling fee of €10 will be deducted from the refund amount.
This deduction reflects the loss of resale value and hygiene-related handling and inspection costs.
This does not affect the buyer’s statutory right of withdrawal. Any deduction is applied in line with applicable consumer law.
---
## 10. Authenticity Guarantee and Additional Refund Policy
NumisAntica offers an additional authenticity guarantee.
If an item is proven to be misrepresented or not authentic, the buyer may return the item for a full refund of the purchase price and standard outbound shipping costs.
Any claim under this guarantee must be submitted within two (2) months of receipt of the item and must be accompanied by written proof from a reputable dealer, recognised expert, or museum curator.
This authenticity guarantee does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights in the event of non-conformity.
---
## 11. Delivery and Liability
NumisAntica remains responsible for the item until it has been delivered to the buyer.
NumisAntica is not liable for indirect or consequential losses resulting from delivery delays, except where such liability cannot be excluded under applicable law.
---
## 12. Orders via Email or Telephone
As a convenience to buyers, orders may be placed via the online order form, email, or telephone.
In the event of simultaneous orders for the same item, the first order confirmed by NumisAntica will be deemed the accepted and binding order.
---
## 13. Listing Status and Archiving
When an order is placed, or when an item is temporarily reserved for a buyer at the buyer’s request, the item may be marked as “Reserved” or “Out of Stock” in the online catalogue.
Upon receipt of full payment, the buyer may request deletion of the complete listing within thirty (30) days.
---
## 14. Payment Security
For security reasons, NumisAntica reserves the right to contact the buyer to request additional verification when payment is made via PayPal or credit card.
---
## 15. Intellectual Property
NumisAntica reserves all photographic and publication rights for images of items sold.
---
## 16. Governing Law
These Terms of Sale are governed by Dutch law.
Any disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the Netherlands, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protection provisions.
