Medieval iron sword pommel with broad flattened faces, a rounded rectangular outline and a narrow peripheral edge. This sturdy form served both to secure the sword’s hilt construction and to counterbalance the blade. The central opening would originally have accommodated the tang of the sword, securing the hilt construction and providing balance to the blade.

The pommel will be delivered on a custom-made modern display stand, as shown on the images.

Pommel: ± 69,4 x 50,4 x 22,2 mm
Total length: ± 17 cm (including display stand)

In good condition, to be handled with care. The surface shows oxidation, encrustation, pitting and signs of wear consistent with age and use. The steel display and wrapped support are modern additions. Reference; similar to Oakeshott Type H1
