Late Roman Beit Nattif Terracotta Oil Lamp from the Holy Land

Holy Land, late Roman mould-made terracotta oil lamp with a rounded body, a large central filling hole surrounded by a raised rim and a small pyramidal handle. The shoulder is richly decorated with stylised floral scrolls, rosettes and circular ornaments. The bow-shaped nozzle is pinched at the sides to form volute-like projections and is decorated with a central floral motif and concentric circles. Traces of the original reddish slip remain beneath the pale surface deposits.

Condition: Good solid condition and intact. Traces of the original reddish slip with surface wear and mineral deposits consistent with age and use.
