Late Roman to Early Byzantine bronze tripod candlestick or lampstand of elegant form. The rounded feet take the form of animal paws, while a heavy, skirt-like element encircles the legs. Above the base rises a columnar stem decorated with disc-shaped mouldings. Its midsection is hexagonal. The stem supports a steep-sided circular drip pan with a central spike, intended to secure an oil lamp or candle.

Height: ± 24 cm
Width: ± 11,5 cm (base)

Condition: very good solid condition. One small knob is missing from the skirt of the base is missing. Fantastic smooth and olive-green patina with areas of cuprite. Some signs of wear consistent with age and use.
