Flemish 17th-century boxwood Corpus Christi. The crucified figure of Christ is carved with the graceful proportions and sensitive detailing typical of devotional sculpture from Flanders and Northern Europe in this period. The figure stands in a gentle, leaning pose, the torso carefully shaped to show the ribcage, abdomen, and natural curvature of the body. Christ’s head tilts softly forward, with expressive facial features and flowing hair carved with notable skill.
A draped cloth (perizoma) is tied around the waist and tied at the side, a treatment frequently seen in Flemish carvings of the 1600's.

Both arms are missing, consistent with the figure having originally formed part of a larger crucifix. Pieces like this were often reused or adapted across generations.
The boxwood has developed a warm honey-brown patina, with darker, softened tones in the recessed areas, giving the figure a rich surface character. The back retains old tool marks and a natural age split in the wood, Now mounted on a 19th century stand, suitable for display.

A moving and elegant example of 17th-century Flemish devotional carving, ideal for collectors of early religious sculpture.
