Byzantine bronze cross pendant of flared form, each arm terminating in rounded knob terminals. The surface is decorated with a cross in relief at the centre, the integral suspension loop remains intact at the top.

Size: ± 45,7 x 31,3 mm
Condition: good and solid condition with a beautiful and shiny patina. Minor surface irregularities and signs of wear consistent with age and use.

Cross pendants of this type were worn throughout the Byzantine world as outward expressions of Christian faith and as personal devotional objects. Their compact and robust form made them suitable for daily wear, while the expanded terminals and raised bosses gave them a strong visual presence.
