Antique gold and diamond bracelet / bangle, 18K
Period: 1810-1850
Antique hinged 18 karat gold bracelet from the late Napoleonic - early Victorian era. The structure of the bangle consists of two bands of gold, widening to the front, featuring a large central openwork panel with a total of 7 diamonds. One central large diamond (± 0,23 ct) and six smaller diamonds (± 0,05 ct each).
The skill and artistry of the maker is clearly visible in the composition with intricate foliage design and the use of various surface textures. These create a special sparkling effect when the piece is worn or handled.
The bangle opens wide for ease of wear and fastens with a spring catch which is fitted with a hinged figure 8 safetly lock for additional security. On the hidden catch are two hallmarks; 18 (gold karat) and an unidentified maker's mark (letter D).
