Aucissa fibulae were widely used throughout the Roman Empire during the 1st century AD, particularly during the early Imperial period. Named after the maker's name AUCISSA stamped on certain examples, these brooches were used to secure garments and were popular in both military and civilian contexts. Their distinctive arched construction, hinged fastening mechanism and decorative variations make them an important category of Roman personal adornment.
