The Wedjat, also known as the Eye of Horus, is a stylised human or falcon eye. It was a common motif on amulets and carved stone stelae and appeared on the bows of boats and was painted on coffins.
The ancient Egyptians believed the Wedjat had magical protective powers and also represented well-being and healing. The Eye of Horus was frequently mentioned in healing spells and was particularly invoked as protection against eye disease. Wedjat-eye amulets were used by both the living and the dead.

Carnelian was valued in ancient Egypt for its warm red-orange colour and was widely used for jewellery, seals and amulets.
The Egyptian faith in carnelian was so strong that, along with turquoise and lapis lazuli, it was one of the most widely used stones in ancient Egyptian jewellery.
