Titus was Roman Emperor from AD 79 to 81 and the eldest son of Emperor Vespasian. Before becoming Emperor, he commanded Roman forces during the Jewish War and captured Jerusalem in AD 70. His short reign saw the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, a major fire in Rome and the opening of the Colosseum.

Titus gained a reputation for generosity and effective crisis management. He died suddenly in AD 81 and was succeeded by his younger brother Domitian.
